Involving the community

The Poppymill team are keen advocates of Enquiry by Design – a process pioneered by The Prince’s Foundation, which enables local people to identify what is good and bad about their local area, and work with professionals to plan how it can be made better through transformative development.

We have already run the first phase of an Enquiry by Design at Hook, towards the end of 2020. Because of Covid restrictions, this was partly in person and at the King’s Centre, and partly on-line. Scores of local people participated, and we were delighted at the positive response we received.

It is our intention to hold further Enquiry by Design sessions in the month to come.

Design Intentions

The feedback we have already received from the Hook community called for the plan to include:

A primary school with integrated community facilities
Local Independent shops
Park facing cafes
Flexible offices and workspaces
New and improved sports facilities
All of these suggestions have been incorporated into the proposals.

Artist’s impression of the proposed new park and homes.
