Local Plan

What is the Local Plan and what does it mean for my area?

The Local Plan sets the vision for Kingston until 2041 including housing, jobs, businesses, community spaces, parks and transport. As part of this, sites have been identified as potential options for development over the next 20 years. Hook Park was not included in this exercise.

The Council has carried out two phases of public consultation which have influenced the draft Local Plan. Following its approval by the Strategic Place Committee in September 2022, a new consultation began in November 2022, which ran until the end of February 2023. The second draft of the Local Plan is due to be published towards the end of 2023.

We believe the Council should take another look at Hook Park and include it within the Local Plan. We ran a campaign throughout the consultation period, gathering support for Hook Park. This was submitted to Kingston Council in late February 2023 as part of the Local Plan consultation.

The Local Plan currently focuses on the densification of Kingston town centre and other urban centres but does not provide Chessington with the opportunity to capitalise on Hook Park creating a public park as well as new homes.

We still need your support. Please join our campaign by clicking the Support the Campaign button below.
