Where is it?
The proposed new park and homes would be on the currently despoiled land sandwiched between the built-up area of Hook and the A3 as it curves around.
Generations ago, this area of land was part of the open countryside, but since the construction of the A3, it has been cut off from the true countryside and despoiled.
Inaccessible to the local community, it has been abused by unauthorised developments and as a location for tipping earth extracted when building CrossRail. The southern section has become a mix of mainly unauthorised uses including scaffolding yards, poorly serviced static caravans, car dismantlers, and scrap metal operators. The area that has been tipped on has been grassed over, but is far from the agricultural land it once was.
